Part of What We Do

In helping survivors rebuild, restore and renew their lives we intentionally include art as part of our program and aftercare for survivors.

ART
Art evokes feelings and emotions. Emotions are related to trauma that has been experienced. In fact, trauma is an emotional response to distressing events that overwhelm an individual's ability to cope. The response can be displayed in various forms, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression.

Artistic activities allow for the representation of trauma in art, giving individuals a way to express themselves in ways they would not have considered. It allows them to experience art as a tool for healing. Some of our Champion Survivors have stated that the Transformational Art Sessions we offer has been a major tool for them as it gives them the ability to focus or concentrate on something other than their current situation.

They have also come to understand that even though they are using art as a tool for healing, their artwork has value which in turn gives them a sense of purpose. It boosts their confidence and overall outlook on life.

We are honored to display and offer our Champion Survivors artwork as part of TWIGS Restoration Ministry fundraising endeavors.

Transformational Art Sessions

We teach different techniques using a variety of formats and encourage Champions to use their creativity for something positive. We have been known to think outside the box and put to use every day items to create amazing works of art.

Our art sessions also offer a safe place with no judgments to have conversations with others that may be affected by similar situations.

Some of the finished artwork that is donated to TWIGS Restoration Ministry by the artists are sold at fundraisers, training sessions or other events we take part in.
